Panther Post January 29 – February 2nd

Panther Community,

This past week we celebrated the Feast of St. Paul and the retirement of Father Murray!

Father Murray, we are immensely grateful for the love and guidance you have showered upon our community. Your selfless service, compassionate heart, and infectious joy have not only enriched our spiritual lives but have also created a bond that transcends the ordinary. Your legacy will continue to inspire generations to come, and the impact of your ministry will echo in the halls of our school for years to come.

We also had the opportunity to connect again with Father Voisin

We also had the pleasure of having Drum Fit available in the school. It was enjoyed by all students.

We hosted our Bottle Drive!

We also explored our own Mental Health and wellness and learned about the importance of taking care of ourselves and those we care about. We are committed to breaking down stereotypes and eliminating the stigma that surrounds mental health.

School Climate Survey

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) is committed to providing safe, caring and inclusive places for everyone in our schools.  One way to find out how we are doing is to ask students about their health and well-being. To collect this information, we will administer the Middle Years Development Instrument (MDI) sometime between February 15th and March 8th.  This is an opportunity for us to learn more about the students we support and help us identify our school communities’ needs.  All students at St. Paul between grade 4 and grade 8 will be invited to participate. Any student may choose not to participate, to stop participating, or to skip a question at any time. Parents/guardians can also ask that their child be exempt from participating in the MDI survey.

Extreme Cold Weather Warning

It appears the forecasted blast of cold Arctic air has reached Waterloo!
As a reminder, here are the WCDSB Winter Weather Inclement procedures that we follow at St. Paul again for your review.
When schools are open during cold weather, special consideration is given to the safety and well-being of students while they are outside at recess, lunch, or for other outdoor activities. Temperatures and conditions vary across the Region and the WCDSB uses www.weather.ca to assess local conditions.
During the winter months, the temperature  (including windchill OR “feels like“) is monitored before school as well as throughout the day prior to all recesses and outdoor time.
  • Temperatures between -20°C and -27°C students will not be outside longer than 15 minutes
  • Temperatures colder than -27°C students will remain inside
https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/weather/ontario/waterloo
Students should arrive at school NO EARLIER than 8:05 am. Depending upon the weather outside at this time, they may be directed to come straight inside to our warm gym rather than outside until school begins.
Thank you for your continued support.

Bundle Up and Stay Warm!

Reminder: Cold Weather

On a day like today, when schools are open, but it is very cold, special consideration must be given to the safety and well-being of students while they are outside at recess, lunch, or for other outdoor activities.
The following temperatures (including windchill) and actions are followed:  • When the temperature is between -20°C and -27°C, we move to a shortened outdoor recess and lunch period. This period will not be longer than 15 minutes.• When temperatures are colder than -27°C, students must remain inside
Temperatures and conditions vary across the Region. The WCDSB uses www.weather.ca website to assess local conditions.
