Panther Post #24

“God never tires of forgiving us; we are the ones who tire of seeking his mercy.” Pope Francis

Last week we celebrated Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, and Pink Shirt Day.

The Lenten Season has begun.

If you are new to our Catholic community, here is a 3-minute video on the big ideas of what Lent is all about

This week we will be celebrating Lenk with our links celebration.

Please send the last page of your child’s report cards back signed.

Ash Wednesday Celebration

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a significant time in the Catholic liturgical calendar.

It is a time for prayer, fasting and almsgiving as we prepare our hearts for the resurrection of Jesus.

Together as a family, try to schedule some intentional time for prayer and reflection each week as we draw closer to the great feast of Easter. When can you gather together to pray? Do you have a calendar in the home? Try counting down the 40 days of Lent with little footprints, stickers or stamps marking your journey toward the celebration of Holy Week. Remember to mark the Sacred Sundays during the Lenten Season in a unique way, as these are exclusive of the 40 days of preparation.

Panther Post #23

Panther Community,

Friday was fun: pyjamas, popcorn, movies, and dress the Principal day.

Reminder: Family Day is Monday, February 20th, and there is NO SCHOOL!!

Embrace your time together!

Shrove Tuesday is the last day of what traditionally was called “Shroventide,” the week before Lent. During this time, people would use up the eggs, sugar and fats in the house to prepare for the lenten season of fasting and prayer. An easy way to use up the ingredients in the house was to make pancakes.

With the generous donations of our Catholic Parent Advisory Council, students will have pancakes in their classrooms on Tuesday.

Gluten-free options are available. We ask that students bring in a fork to reduce the environmental impact of this event.

ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICES

The first service will be early years – grade 2 in the gym with Ruth Ann. It will begin at 9 a.m.

The second service will be with grades 3-5 in the gym with Father and Ruth Ann. It will begin at 10 a.m., and ashes will be distributed.

The third and final service will be with grades 6-8 in the gym with Father and Ruth Ann. It will begin at 12:15 p.m., and ashes will be distributed

Wednesday is also Pink Shirt Day!

We should be proud; Pink Shirt Day originated in Canada when two students took a stand against bullying after a new student was harassed and threatened for wearing pink. These students bought dozens of pink shirts and distributed them to their classmates to wear the next day. The word got out online, and hundreds of students showed up to school the next day wearing pink to stand together against bullying. It is celebrated in many places in the world now.

Please join us in standing up against bullying and wear pink!
