Panther Post: December 11-15

On Friday we lit the the second candle on the Advent wreath ~ the purple candle of PEACE! Advent is a time for us to count down the days to Christmas and t prepare for the birth of Jesus. As we light our candles we are reminded that Jesus is the light of the world. He said, “Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”

“Let there be PEACE on earth and let it begin with me.”

Panther Post #14 December 4th – 8th

Panther Community,

Today is the first Sunday of Advent. Advent is a time in which we prepare for the coming of Jesus.  We will use an Advent wreath to help us count down the four weeks of Advent. We will celebrate each week of Advent in school with a prayer/liturgy and lighting of the Advent candle. The first candle is the candle of HOPE. The lighting of the candle is not a passive act. It reminds us that we, too, are the light, as Jesus said in Matthew 5:14. We can shine a light in dark places by providing kind gestures or kind words to those in need. Over the next four weeks, we will prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus! On Friday, we held a link celebration to ring in the first week of Advent and to remind us to prepare our hearts for Jesus.
