Bus # 169 Cancelled

     BUS # 169 only

This letter is to inform you that your child’s bus route is expected to be cancelled from Monday October 3rd, 2022 to Friday October 7th, 2022. It will start again

on Tuesday October 11th, 2022.

While more than 90% of scheduled trips are operating normally, some routes are experiencing more frequent and prolonged delays (50 minutes or greater) due to driver

shortages. As a result, Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region (STSWR) will need to cancel some routes for a short period of time.

Routes will not be cancelled for more than a week at a time. This temporary measure will be effective through to December 2022.

Stay Informed

Families will be informed the day prior to any cancellation. Cancellations will be posted on the STSWR website with an expected return date.

· Register for notifications on the STSWR parent portal

· Check the Bus Delays page on the STSWR website

We understand the significant impact this decision will have on our students and their families and caregivers. STSWR does this only as a last resort. We hope this proactive message will allow families and caregivers to better prepare for and react to the cancellation of bus routes.

We ask for your support in extending thanks and grace to our bus drivers who work hard to keep students safe.

Panther Post

Panther Community,

We had such a great day walking and running in memory of Terry Fox this past Friday! We all looked great as we wore red to support cancer research. The weather was beautiful, and we all had a chance to be physically active. We are blown away and completely grateful for all of your generous donations! This year, St Paul School raised a total of $1927.00 for cancer research!! This is the most we’ve ever raised in our 13 years of participating in the Terry Fox National School Run! Amazing work, Panther Families!! Thank you for helping make this day a special one!

This week, we will also recognize Truth and Reconciliation Week, where schools across Canada will engage in age-appropriate educational activities to raise awareness of the residential school system and how its legacy affected Indigenous Peoples and shaped the country we live in today. Truth and Reconciliation Week was launched by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation and will culminate in the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Orange Shirt Day) on September 30th.

We will be wearing Orange Shirts and honouring the Day of Truth and Reconciliation on Friday, September 30th.  This day is an annual event that started in 2013 to recognize the legacy of the Residential school system for First Nations, Metis and Inuit families and communities. It is a show of support and understanding of the history of the school system that impacts many Indigenous peoples today. The phrase “Every Child Matters” reminds everyone that children are such an important and integral part of our communities and that they are our future generations of changemakers. By wearing an orange shirt, we have an opportunity to bring awareness to the history of residential schools and to stand up against other injustices that may impact our children/students.

Rowan’s Law Day

On Wednesday, September 28th, we will wear purple to raise awareness about concussions. Have you ever bumped your head or body? We likely all have! In sports and active games, there can be risks involved. Rowan’s Law was passed in Ontario in honour of Rowan Stringer and also helps people who get concussions recover. All schools in Ontario must have rules in place to support awareness and help coaches, teachers, and parents know when a child has suffered a suspected concussion. It also lets the child know that they should immediately stop participating in physical activities and when they may safely return to play again. #HitStopSit

Thursday, September 29th, is Picture Day!!
