Monthly Theme: Belonging
Welcome to Week 2!
SCHOOL CASH AND REGISTRATION FORMS
You will have received your return to school registration forms through Cash online. Please complete them ASAP and submit through School Cash – these forms are not to be printed and returned to school – teachers will review online.
It is important that we have these forms as they provide accurate information regarding contacting you and ensuring your child’s safety.
MEET THE STAFF:
Please join us on September 19, 2019 from 5:00 – 6:30 for our Pizza and Meet the Teacher Night. We will be selling pizza and water on the blacktop for $1 each.
Please be sure to call into the school (519-743-4401) prior to 8 am if your child is going to be absent or late. If we do not hear from you and cannot contact you we are required to contact the police to ensure the safety of all children. If you are signing your child(ren) out early, please send a note in the school agenda as teachers check these daily and it will ensure that your child(ren) is ready when you arrive.
Have you ever stopped to think about the cumulative effects of lates and absences? Every Day Counts!
PARKING LOT – PLEASE HELP KEEP EVERYONE SAFE!
If you are driving your children to school, please remember the rules of the Parking Lot:
- the speed limit is 5 KM/HR
- the ring around the centre parking spaces is one way – counter-clockwise going past the portables first
- there is NO PARKING along the sidewalk in front of portables – if you need to come into the school or want to walk your child(ren) to the play area or door, park in one of the spaces in the centre or along the grass side – OR BETTER YET
- Please consider parking on a nearby side street and letting your kids walk or walking with your child(ren) for the last few blocks – it is a great early morning exercise to help wake up and charge their brains for learning!
- the three spots closest to the Blacktop are for the YWCA Child Care ONLY – Do Not Park There! They have been marked with orange cones – please respect these spaces
It is our goal to continue to provide a warm, welcoming and safe learning environment for all. The entire school community will be participating in various safety drills this upcoming week including both fire and lockdown drills. Please continue to talk to your children about the importance of safety in a school environment. We take a lot of pride to ensure that we offer a safe environment and will continue to support students through this lens. Dates have not been set, but 3 fire drills and 1 Lockdown will take place in the fall and the same in the spring.
TERRY FOX RUN
Thursday, September 26th marks a special day for our students. Once again, we will be celebrating Terry Fox and his tremendous accomplishments by participating in the Terry Fox National School Run. Our entire school will be showing our support by walking in the afternoon, to remember Terry Fox’s dream of raising money for cancer research. Students are encouraged to bring $2.00 or more, to help raise funds for Cancer Research and to carry on Terry Fox’s dream. Last year we raised $1269.00, and our goal is to match that again! So, Panthers please start saving your toonies! With each donation, your child will receive a paper shoe, which will be displayed around the halls of St. Paul School. The top 2 classes that raise the most money will win a free pizza lunch – one class from JK- Gr3 and one class from Gr4 – 8!! Remember to wear red that day to show your St. Paul spirit and support! Keep Terry’s spirit and hope alive during the month of September and help us make a difference!
