“Being truly thankful makes you infinitely more resourceful. By sincerely appreciating what you have, you find new and valuable ways to make use of it.” Ralph Marston

Our yearly fundraiser will be a Valentine’s themed Dance-a-thon, held on February 9, 2018. This year all funds being raised will go directly to support and enhance classroom learning opportunities. Early this week students will receive their Pledge forms and envelopes along with parent information letters.

In order for the Dance-a-thon to be a success we need the support of our amazing parent community. If you can donate a prize for the student fundraising raffles please drop it off at the office. This could include gift cards, Rangers tickets, new toys or games, etc. Anything you can donate will be appreciated and will help make the fundraiser a success!

We will also have a Valentine’s themed Cake and cupcake raffles on the same day. If you can donate a cake or some cupcakes, please let Marianne Pierson know ( so we can ensure we have enough space to display the items. Cakes/ cupcakes should be dropped off at the school on the morning of February 9th.

Finally – if you have a couple of hours you can donate during the day on February 9th to help out with glo bracelet sales, or raffles or helping the students with the dance please contact Kathleen Parker ( so we can coordinate the day. Thank you for all your support  – we are looking forward to a great fund raiser and an amazing dance-a-thon!

This year Valentine’s day happens to be the same day as Ash Wednesday. We will be having our Ash Wednesday Mass here at the school this year.

While Ash Wednesday is not a day of Obligation in the Catholic Church, all Catholics over the age of 14 are expected to fast on this day. It is also the first day of Lent and many students and families do practice various forms of abstinence from sweets, junk food etc., during this time.

As a result, we will be ‘celebrating’ Valentine’s day on Feb 13th to respect the solemnity of Ash Wednesday. Individual teachers will communicate with students and families regarding how they may be celebrating the day. In connection with this – we will not be having a school wide Pancake breakfast on Shrove Tuesday this year. We look forward to returning to this tradition next year.

We would like to remind parents, guardians, and visitors to please only enter the building through our front doors. We ask that no visitor enter through any other door or walk through our hallways regardless of the time of day. Once you have entered, please check in at the main office. Inform office staff of the reason for your visit. We will call the classroom for your child to be sent down. If you are bringing in your child after school begins, please bring him or her to the Office for a late slip and then we will send the child to class. If they need assistance, a staff member will help. This will ensure that we maintain a safe environment for all students and staff and that we adhere to our safe school protocol. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

When we experience wintry weather throughout the year families often have many questions. Considering this we are informing the community of the policy that is followed when deciding to keep students indoors during winter. Students will remain inside when temperatures, including wind chill, are at or below minus 20°C. Otherwise all students will go outside for recesses and lunches. Students must dress for the weather and be prepared to be outside before school, during the two 15-minute recess and the 40-minute lunch break. Please consider sending a change of clothes for your son or daughter in case their clothes get wet during recesses.

Remember – Children who are too ill to go outside for recesses should be resting at home

Do you have an hour each day between 11 and 12? We are looking for adults to be on our supply list for the Lunch Hour Supervisor position. There is also the possibility of this becoming a permanent position in the future. This is a CUPE position with the School Board. Training is provided. If you are interested, please bring a Resume (including the names and numbers of two references) to the Office. A police check is also required.
