Raise a Food Lover Breakfast
On Tuesday, January 15, 2019 we will be providing every student at St Paul with a breakfast courtesy of the Beechwood Zehrs and their Raise a Food Lover Campaign. We have been working with a dietician and the Zehrs staff to create healthy breakfast options for this day. Students will also receive a ‘grab bag’ with some healthy home breakfast options and information about nutritious choices. Students who have identified food allergies or sensitivities at school will be provided with choices on Tuesday and personalized grab bags.
Do you know any families in our boundary who have children that will be Kindergarten age in September 2019?
Year 1 and Year 2 registration will be held Beginning on February 11, 2019 for children born in 2015 (eligible for Year 1) or born in 2014 (eligible for Year 2) who have not attended Year 1.
Extended hours fro registration will be on Wednesday, February 13th, from 4 – 7 pm. Please call the office to make an appointment to register (519-743-4401).
Due to the increasing number of conflicts and loss of personal items – resulting in a loss of instructional time, we are suspending the use of Beyblades at school for the time being. We will continue to look for options for students to play with these toys, but until then please refrain from sending in Beyblades.
Intent to be Absent
Please remember to complete the Intent to be Absent form if you are planning to have your child(ren) be absent from school for 5 or more days. Forms can be picked up at the Main Office.
Cold Winter Days
With the winter months approaching, winter safety is an important consideration. Children should always come to school dressed appropriately for the outside each day. Even in extreme cold when they might be kept inside, there is always the consideration of coming to and from school, as well as the risk of an emergency procedure where we must evacuate the building. When the snow hits the ground, students are going to be tempted to play in it. There will be no throwing snow or ice. Snow must be left on the ground. Students should also follow the direction of the supervision staff about playing on snow piles. Sometimes these piles will be deemed off-limits. School winter safety policies are designed to protect everyone on school property from injury.
During periods of severe weather your best sources of information about possible school closing and/or school bus cancellation is the School Board Website ww.wcdsb.ca or a local radio stations. Please do not call the school.
Medication at School
As a reminder, if your child needs to take any medication (over the counter and prescription) at school, the medication must be stored at the main office. Please confirm with your family physician that the medication must be taken at school (can the times be adjusted so it is given before and after school?) There is also a mandatory form that must be completed prior to any medications being administered at school. A copy of the required form can be downloaded here: Oral Medication Consent – please complete this form and send in with the medication.
Please note, all students will go outside for recesses. Any child who is too sick to go out for recess, should be at home. We do not have the supervision available for students to remain inside during recess times.
St Francis Parish
We are very proud of our partnership with St Francis Parish. In order to continue to build on this relationship, each week we will be providing our community with a link to access the Church Bulletin so you may keep yourself apprised of the many events at the Parish.
