“Self-compassion is simply giving the same kindness to ourselves that we would give to others.”

—Christopher Germer

This Sunday marks the first week of Advent.  Please enjoy the following video to help get into the spirit of Advent! What is Advent Again?

This month’s Umbrella Skill is Self Compassion. Our students will be learning why it is important to be compassionate towards themselves. Too often we reserve our kindness for others, but neglect to show ourselves the same kindness and compassion. Did you know that 75% of people treat others more kindly than they treat themselves? Self-compassion is treating yourself with care and understanding instead of harsh judgement. Many people are hard on themselves because they feel it is motivating. Self-criticism actually reduces our self-confidence and perceived abilities, making it harder to get tasks done.

Our inner critic has the same impact as if someone else were saying these things to us. Imagine a parent saying the things to a child that you might say to yourself in your head and you will understand why this isn’t helpful!

We are once again offering families the opportunity to purchase Panthers Spirit Wear! All orders will be completed online. Please see the link below to shop for your Panther Spirit Wear. All orders are due by December 9th. Information regarding Spiritwear was also sent home on Friday, Nov 23rd.
