Monthly Theme: BEING FAITHFUL RISK TAKERS
Twitter: follow us @wcdsbStPaul to get the latest news and celebrate our #PantherPride!
As we begin the third week of Advent our students and staff continue with preparations for Christmas – toys and food items have been collected and are being delivered to those in need, classrooms are decorated and students are celebrating the Christmas Spirit. Throughout the week, we focus our prayers on preparing for Christmas. On Monday, we will consider how following the star reminds us to be Light in the World so others can see the love God has for us. The following music videos will be included in our prayer service.
Thank you to all our families who generously supported our Angel Tree Campaign this year. Once again, we were blessed with an abundance of toys, warm clothes and food to help support families who may be struggling to provide for their children during this holiday season.
On December 19th, we are excited to have the entire school going to Landmark Cinemas to see the movie The Star. In The Star, a small but brave donkey named Bo teams up with some lovable new friends to go on an adventure unlike any other. These lovable animals follow the Star and become accidental heroes in the greatest story ever told – the first Christmas. The movie ties into many curriculum expectations in our Religion programs and to our School Improvement Plan as we continue to increase student participation in faith filled activities. Special thanks to our School Council and to ‘a St Jerome’s Boy’ for supporting this experience!
MATH AT HOME
Try These at Home:
“Which One Doesn’t Belong” activities can be used for all grade levels and topics. The graphics can be specific or more open-ended. Remember, the idea is to spark your child’s thinking, interest, and curiosity to talk about math, and be able to share their reasoning! WODB activities do not have a single correct answer. These graphics are designed to be interpreted in a variety of different ways in order to spark deep mathematical thinking and discussion. Check these out:
Santa Claus is working on his sense of direction. Can you help him out?
