Panthers’ WAG April 16 – 20, 2018

Monthly Theme: Being a Responsible Citizen

Twitter: follow us @wcdsbStPaul to get the latest news and celebrate our #PantherPride!

“Youth are not powerless; each young person has a voice and the ability to act and together, young people can multiply their influence through collaboration, creativity, and a commitment to bring about positive change” (His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada)

On April 12th we offered our thoughts, prayers and support to those so deeply affected by the tragic events involving the Humboldt Broncos. As always, our school community stepped up and so many of our staff and students dressed in Jerseys or Green and yellow.

As part of our focus on being a Responsible Citizen, we will be focusing on environmental issues this month. We will be having Boomerang Lunch days throughout the month to help us focus on the amount of waste we produce each day – stay tuned as our grade 8 Eco students announce our Boomerang Lunch schedule.

Students will also be involved in Earth Day community clean up activities this week (weather permitting).

Save the date – On May 1st from 6 – 8 pm we will be hosting a family wellness night for students and parents. Some of the topics will be: Building healthy and easy lunches, family fitness, and mental wellness. As well we will have a variety of community resources available during the evening. More details to follow.

For safety reasons, children are prohibited from bringing any form of medication to school without prior approval from the office. This includes all over the counter (Advil, Tylenol, Cold or Allergy medications, etc.) and prescription medications.  If medication is determined to be necessary, there is a form that must be filled out by parents/guardians to indicate that the medication must be taken during school hours. The medication must be in the original container and clearly labeled with names (child, parent/guardian, doctor), phone numbers and directions. All medications will be stored in the office and administered by office staff.  Parents/guardians are asked to contact the school to address individual student needs in this regard.

The WCDSB Student Medication form is available from the office or on the school board website.
