Panthers’ WAG – June 24 – 28, 2019

Monthly Theme: Hope

It is hard to believe that the end of the school year has arrived!  Ten months have passed very quickly! As we come to the end of June we think about packing up our classrooms and our offices, tucking away our books, pens and memories, the staff at St. Paul School are reflective over the past year. We have witnessed so much change and growth in all students and staff. We have shared in learning – stretching ourselves to become better teachers and better learners. We have taken risks and tried new things, knowing that with a positive growth mindset we can continue to achieve our goals in spite of setbacks that may come our way. Throughout the year we learned more about the Umbrella Skills and how to ‘weather’ the rainy times with a variety of skills that have helped us become more resilient and hopeful people of God. We have learned more about ourselves, our classmates and our place in the world.

The year-end always brings with it a tremendous sense of accomplishment.  So many things have been accomplished this year! From the Terry Fox Run near the beginning of the year to the many wonderful Liturgies and school assemblies, to the upcoming Grade 8 Graduation – our students have been involved in an extraordinary number of activities. Of course, we should not forget the tremendous amount of learning which has taken place during the year.  Throughout all of these activities, our students have demonstrated great character!

Thank you for supporting us and trusting us to take care of your children.  We feel enriched knowing that we played a big part in their learning and their becoming more responsible citizens.

To our graduates – congratulations on your achievement.  The St. Paul staff wish you all the best as you move on to the challenges and joys of high school. Parents, if this is your last child to leave St Paul – the staff would like to thank you for your support and for the guidance that you have provided for your child(ren).  We look forward to hearing from the graduates in the future and we hope that each of them will have gained a firm foundation for their education while at St Paul.

For those families who will be returning in September, school will begin on Tuesday, September 3rd.

So, as we get ready for the long, hot days of summer… be sure to spend as much time as you can with your children this summer.  Go fishing, catch frogs and eat ice cream together. Read to them, let them read to you. Let them get dirty, and then swim in a pool, run through the sprinkler or jump into the lake.  Enjoy these moments; these are the memories that will be remembered and cherished.

On behalf of the staff, we would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and happy summer.

May our Lord bless us all on this journey ahead.

A Prayer for Summer Activities

Take time to claim your strength; they are gifts of God.

Take time to have fun; it’s God’s way of teaching you your strengths.

Take time to grow yourself; only you can grow you.

Take time to trust yourself; God trusts you.

Take time to be self-reliant; it is better than being dependent.

Take time to share with others; they will bless you, and you will bless them.

Take time to have hope, you are a child of God.

Let’s put ourselves into the hands of the Lord, and pray that God will bless us and our families during the wonderful months of summer. May we all help make our home a place of relaxation, joy, love, peace and safety. May we be generous and considerate, not thinking only about ourselves, but helping others enjoy the blessings of summertime. Lord God, Creator of all things, guide our steps and strengthen our hearts, during these months of summer and vacation days. Grant us refreshment of mind and body. We ask this through Christ our Lord.    Amen. (Found on: catholicdoors.com)

St Paul Catholic School Council

Thank you so much to our Catholic School Council! Without your hard work and dedication to helping to make St Paul a great place to learn we would not be able to accomplish as much. We are so grateful for all you do to enhance the learning community through spirit events and support. You are an amazing group of people and I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with you each year!

Pencil Case Project

Once again this year we will be participating in the Pencil Case Project. AS we come to the end of the school year we will be encouraging children who are able to donate their remaining school supplies to the project to assist students in other countries with their learning. Please see the attachment for details.

Jump Rope for Heart

Congratulations St. Paul School!!! Our Jump Rope for Heart grand total is in and this year we raised an AMAZING $8003.25!!! Way to go Panthers! We had such a great day of skipping and making our hearts healthy!! All prizes arrived last week and have been distributed to the students! Thank you for making Jump Rope for Heart so successful at St. Paul School!

Moving?

If you are moving over the summer and will no longer be in St Paul boundaries, please inform the school ASAP so we can help you register at your new school for September.

Summer registration packages

As we continue to find ways to be more environmentally responsible, all schools in the WCDSB will be using a new process for completing the majority of our registration forms this year. In late August you will receive a series of Cash Online items to complete for students. These entries are many of the permission forms that have previously been completed using paper copies. These forms must be completed online so we have important information regarding things like lunch plans and early dismissal procedures. They will also include permission for your children to use our technology and participate in various community walks and activities.

No Sneak Peek

Due to the changes in how registration packages are being completed – we will not be having a ‘Sneak Peek’ event this year. Agendas and any other important forms will be handed out to students on the first day of school.

First Day of School

September 3, 2019 is our first day of the new school year. As is our tradition, students, families and staff will gather at the back of the school on the blacktop for an opening liturgy and then students will be gathered by grade to learn which class they are in.

Links for Learning

Each year theWaterloo Region Catholic Schools Foundation provides numerous grants to schools in need for a variety of projects. Over the years most of our schools have benefitted directly from the Foundation’s generosity. The second major fundraiser the Foundation organizes is quickly approaching (Links Fore Learning). We hope you will consider attending the Links Fore Learning in some capacity whether it is to sponsoring the tournament, donating a prize, purchase a ticket to golf, or in choosing the option to join us for lunch. Please see the attachments below for more information.
